Filament is built on trust

This isn’t just another social platform—it’s a network where your reputation matters, and where every connection relies on mutual respect. These guidelines exist to keep Filament safe, valuable, and worth your time.

1. Don’t spend more trust than you earn.
Filament is a professional network that only works because people vouch for each other. That means:

• Respect the norms of your community—they might be different from these rules.
• Don’t invite people you wouldn’t vouch for in real life.
• Don’t use membership to extract value without contributing any.
• Don’t violate NDAs or share privileged, confidential, or harmful information.

2. Don’t misrepresent who you are or why you’re here.
If you're here just to hustle, grift, or harvest emails, you're in the wrong place.

• Anonymity is not allowed on Filament—you don’t need to reveal all of your personal information by any means, but your community members should know who you are.
• Represent yourself and your affiliations truthfully.
• Don’t use Loops as a marketing funnel unless that’s what they’re explicitly for.
• Don’t spam, scam, or mislead.
• Don’t spread misinformation.
• You can’t use Filament if you’re under 18.

3. Don’t be a jerk.
You know what this means. But in case you don’t:

• No hate speech, slurs, or mockery of people based on protected characteristics.
• No harassment, threats, or intimidation.
• No doxxing or leaks of private information.
• Don’t traumatize the room — shock content, gore, etc., has no place here.
• Don’t coordinate abuse or harassment, inside or across Loops.

4. Don’t break the law.
If you’re using Filament to do illegal or dangerous activities, we will kick you out and potentially alert the authorities.

• No selling or trading of restricted goods (weapons, gambling, drugs, animals, etc.).
• No promotion of violent or criminal organizations.
• No child abuse material, ever.
• Do not use Filament to facilitate sex trafficking or other exploitation.

What We Encourage

1. Strong connections: This is a place for support, inspiration, and collaboration outside of traditional workplaces.
2. Thoughtful conversation: Disagreement and sensitive topics are okay. Just bring curiosity, context, and care.
3. Integrity: Trust is the currency here. Be honest, clear, and respect the privacy and boundaries of others.

How Reporting and Enforcement Work

How we enforce:
If you violate Filament’s rules or the rules of your community, an admin may remove you from the community. This action is permanent, but does not prevent you from joining other Loops in the future.

For egregious violations or repeated patterns of behavior, Filament may remove you from the platform. In this case, you will not be able to access any Loops.

How reporting works:
User reports are visible to both Filament and our moderators. Moderators handle most day-to-day moderation, as well as upholding their community rules. Filament may share the content of your report with Loop admins if their input is required to make a decision. However, if an incident is severe, illegal, or involves cross-Loop coordination, Filament will take action.

If you think an action was made in error:
Contact Filament support and we will review your case. Note: Filament will not weigh in on disputes between Loop admins and their communities unless Filament-level policies or the Admin Code of Conduct are being violated.
